John Willson
Born in Rochester , Minnesota and raised in Milwaukee. Attended Milwaukee University School and graduated in 1959.
He attended Williams College where he received a BA in Economics in 1963. He then became a banker in New York City with the Bankers Trust Company. He enrolled in the New York University Stern Graduate School of Business.
He left banking and business school to attend Northwestern University School of Law where he received his JD in 1967.
He met Susie in law school and they were married in 1968.
They lived in Evanston, Illinois and John practiced law in Chicago for five years. They moved to Denver in 1972 where John practiced law for over thirty five years.
John and Susie have three children: Andrew (also a Gyro Club member)who is married to Kara and they have a son, Zachery; Matthew, married to Julia with grandson Baker; and Amy, married to David with grandson Nathan. Their grandsons are sixth generation Coloradoans.
Susie's father was Wilbur M. Pryor, Jr., a longtime Denver Gyro who sponsored John's membership into Denver Gyro.
For over forty years John practiced corporate, business, antitrust, real estate, construction and healthcare law and was a speaker at various antitrust law seminars.
He was a member of the Colorado, Denver and American Bar Associations. He served on many committees for both bar associations.
John was appointed by Governor Bill Owens to serve on the Committee on Anticompetative Conduct of the Colorado Medical Board and served as its chairman for two terms.
