Biography:

Wesley West Born 15 Nov 1940 in Greeley Colorado

Education: Graduated Briggsdale High School 1958

University of Northern Colorado 1962 degree in Physics

Air Force Institute of Technology 1967

Air Force Command and Staff College 1969

Naval War College 1982

Commissioned in the US Air Force 1963, served as an aircraft maintenance officer 1963- 1966 deployed to Turkey and Southeast Asia with a second Viet Nam tour in 1970.

Worked in various Space related positions at Cape Canaveral, Los Angles Space and Missiles Systems, NASA Johnson Manned Spacecraft Center, Buckley AFB as Director of Operations for a classified space system, Commander, Operating Division 4 at Sunnyvale AFS responsible for command and control of National Reconnaissance Office programs including now declassified Gambit and Hexagon photo reconnaissance satellites.

Retired as a Colonel in 1986.

Joined General Electric in 1986 and managed GE operations at a satellite ground station in Virginia, moving to Syracuse NY as GM for a $350M/year radar development business followed by a GM position at Valley Forge PA in a similar size R&D position. After being acquired by Martin Marietta promoted to VP. After merging with Lockheed, moved to Denver in 1997 to manage a space systems business unit. In 1999 transferred to Nashua, NH as VP/GM for a Lockheed Martin business unit which was sold to BAE Systems in 2000. Retired in 2002 and moved back to Colorado and consulted until total retirement in 2007.

Currently serve on the advisory board for Operation TBI Freedom, Chairman of the Briggsdale High School Alumni Scholarship Committee and Scholarship mentor for the Astronaut Foundation. Work with the French Consul to organize French Legion of Honor award ceremonies for WWII veterans. Work with other veterans visiting public schools. Member of the “Presidents Seminar” a group of civic and business leaders engaged in literary discussions. Board member for the Denver Gyros. Author of autobiography “If you are not having fun you are doing it wrong”.

Married to Kay Lynn Conaway West for 57 years. Two children, 5 related grandchildren 4 “adopted” grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Currently reside in Castle Rock, CO.
